How can one person...

What I am, what all I stand for,
you would crumble to pieces, just because you can.
You keep your heart as open as the front door,
but you're never home, and I never have a plan.
Yet for some unknown reason, you come back to me,
to hurt me more than I could ever say.
You've numbed me like the drug coursing through my veins, and now I just don't want to see.
I couldn't be lying if I said I don't want to see tomorrow's day.
How can one person hurt you so much?
How can one person tear you down?
and refuse to build you back up.
How can one person kill off all the sound?
How can one person take it all away?
How can you do this to me?
but in my lackadaisical ignorance, my message won't be conveyed.
Too bad that I can still see.
What you're doing to me.
See how you can crumble me down.
All that I am, and all that I stand for.
You've killed off the sound.
And I still walk through your door.
