Dear God
They talk about
All the places they’ll go
What they’ll be when they’re old-er
Years from now
They just accept
That that’s what we do
I wish I could too
But I can’t
I can feel the questions
Nagging at the back of my mind
Yes I know the system
But what I can’t understand is why?
Chorus:
Dear god, why did you put me here?
If all that I’m to learn will be erased
Seems pointless to live, just to die
So tell me that this can not be the case
You see I’m wondering
Why I should play
A game where no one’s getting out alive
And they say don’t question
But I need to know
All I ask is that you tell me why
Am i
Here?
I look around
At a world well known
And yet no one quite knows
Just why it’s here
We walk about
Like we’re the sole purpose
And everything’s worthless
When compared
So I can feel the questions
Building up inside of my mind
Yes I know the system
But can anybody tell me why?
Chorus:
Dear god, why did you put me here?
If all that I’m to learn will be erased
Seems pointless to live, just to die
So tell me that this can not be the case
You see I’m wondering
Why I should play
A game where no one’s getting out alive
And they say don’t question
But I need to know
All I ask is that you tell me why
Am i
Here?
Are you entertained
By our petty ways
Do you gamble with our lives?
You should be ashamed
There’s too much at stake
I think we should compromise
Chorus:
Dear god, why did you put me here?
I’ll just lose what I will work so hard to gain
We move forward to prolong the end
I really just can’t understand your ways
You see I’m wondering
Why I should play
A game where no one’s getting out alive
And they say don’t question
But I need to know
All I ask is that you tell me why
Am i
