Without Her Knowing Why

There are no words that I can pen to page that she’ll believe,
No dreams that were not broken by the need to feel bereaved,
No flowing hair beneath the moon, no eyes to know were mine,
No reason in the universe to find another rhyme.
No breath enough, no sigh alive, no words she’d understand,
No room to take, or plans to make, just talking to the hand.
No relief and no belief and no it’s not that way,
No intentions meant at all to know that no allays,
Every single thing we shared meant nothing in the end,
But how to learn to heal inside the heart that wouldn’t bend.
I often sit alone at night where quiet fills the room,
Crying for what could have been back when our love had bloomed,
Against the anguished agony of what went with her too,
I found my way back to the day of why and where and who.
I always was the dreamer while just always such a fool,
Despite the nightly memories of how it all turned cruel,
I miss the feeling in her arms, her charms, her fevered need,
I miss the way her smile reflected while her lips would read,
I miss the kisses most of all enthralled by how she gave,
I miss the tempest and her fire and how she’d rant and rave,
I miss the one and only one so much there are no rhymes,
To ever make this go away until the end of time,
She thinks somehow I didn’t care enough to find a way,
I need retreat while in defeat to try and save the day,
For the night has been destroyed somehow, for now I’ll simply cry,
With her upon my heart and lips without her knowing why….
