Fairytales and Realities

Every dream I’ve ever had, every night
It was you who was there lying next to me.
The warmth of your embrace was all I needed
To make it through the blistering winter nights.
Your heartbeat would be my own personal lullaby
The up and down of your breathing lulled me to sleep
Like a baby in a rocking chair sleeping so silently.
Your lips gently grazed my head before slumber,
The feeling that you loved me was all around.
Our hands would be intertwined and locked
As our bodies were up against each other.
The sound of your breathing calmed me,
The look of your sleeping angel face warmed me.
It made me feel like I was living in a fairytale,
Everything was perfect.
But now, nothing is right.
You don’t lie next to me at night no longer,
Your heartbeat does not drift me to sleep.
I spend the nights cold and alone, wondering.
Wondering what happened with us, what went wrong.
I always knew you and I weren’t meant to be
But now I’m finally finding out the gruesome truth.
Love is the fairytale; heartbreak is the reality.
