Closure

Sometimes closure is more about admitting how it’s never,
Simply words to walk away forgetting times together.
When two no longer see things as a couple like they thought,
Closure can be how we state that humility’s been taught.
Too often when emotions reign we say things we regret,
Reaching out for others just to make ourselves forget,
But in that act we tend to find the things that hurt the most,
Are more our way to justify accusation’s ghost.
Confusion means our thoughts went wrong along the way somehow,
Giving credence to supposition and more to then than now,
No one’s ever innocent and no one just to blame,
No one ever understands why things can’t be the same.
No one’s ever willing just to see how they’ve been changed,
Not so much by what was done, but why they deemed it strange.
The human mind is tainted by the things we think we see,
The actions that we choose to take are how we set them free,
The saddest truth there ever was is when we just refuse
That where we are and how it is was makes us what seems abused.
Reflections of our fantasies is wishing what we hoped,
Instead of thinking of our deeds as how we chose to cope.
We make mistakes because we love with every ounce of soul,
Forgetting that relationships have three distinctive roles,
One of self and one that’s not and one that’s two as one,
And when we let ourselves forget, that relationship is done.
All we do, is all our fault, and that is never closed,
Until we take upon ourselves the truth that has been posed,
And show the world we can be wrong as long as we are human,
Mirrors only show the depths of the failure of illusion.
The truth behind the fingers that we point proves that we care,
But disavows that we refuse to see we both are there,
And closure simply can’t be done when one turns into two,
Unless we walk away uncured of the things we tend to do,
When writing, fighting, even citing all the reasons why,
We were right and they were wrong and then alone we cry.
I have to think that when in love we risk more than ourselves,
Closure means much more than putting closed books upon the shelves,
It means that though we gave our hearts, we failed to understand,
That what we took for granted was all done by our own hand,
And though my heart is shattered by two eyes that cry so green,
I’ll never have the closure for the way to me it seemed.
I’d give my life to save her heart and that too shall occur,
I can’t bring back the way it was, or the way that things just were,
All that I can try to do is to die with dignity,
Knowing that I gave my sparrow the closure that she needs.
