Fuck the Status Quo

Sometimes I look deep inside
and find a yearning for ideals
most wouldn't understand.

In my darkest moments
when dire
isolation
seems to weigh down
my heart,

it doesn't take too long
before I remember
why
I have become
so very proud
to be a misfit.

They don't happen very often,

but when I discover those kindred spirits
who understand what it means
to constantly thrive for more,

who truly appreciate
the triumphs
and trials
of this turbulent life,

I find another piece of the map
guiding
my soul home.

We are the freaks,
the weirdos, the black sheep,
the oddballs,
the passionate lovers of all things atypical,

and we are helping each other to be
courageously unique
in a world trying its best
to turn us into
cardboard copies
of 'normal.'

Well you know what they say...
actually
they don't say it-
we do.
Fuck the status quo.
