I've loved this since you posted it. I used to have hens, and it reminds me of when they'd shake their feathers up and make little mumbly disgruntled cluckcluckcluck sounds then stalk into their wooden house which was warm, perch themselves quietly next to each other and brood. I really like how the parenthesis hug the 'between'.
