Failed Promises

Promises made, Promises to keep
Promises made, Some are too deep

I made a promise to a certain someone
That I'll be with her forever..
Life happened,
Now I wish I never met her

I promised myself I'll put off smoking
When Doc said I'd destroy my lungs,
Counting years from now: 14
But my lungs contract and hurt when I don't smoke  
Smoke? not smoke?
I could swear they do the same damage

Promises made, Promises to keep
Promises made, Most are too deep

I promised my dad I'll land straight A's
The session is almost over
And I'm on a land far far away

I promised my kid brother I'd always protect him,
2 days later,
He was battered in school.
I had nothing to say,
I looked the proper fool.

Promises promises,
I think I'll make one more;
"I promise to never make a promise"
Now this 'one' I might keep
