"Let It Be."

Windows down,
Stereo serenading me,
Whisper words of wisdom,
Let it be
.”

My father’s tattoo,
Penning the phrase along his arm.
Indestructible, this man.
Shielding me from harm.

That man has passed,
I live by the phrase.
Nothing I could do
Would bring him back, anyways.

I’ve let it be for 13 years,
And I’ve listened to that song,
In my moments of weakness,
Times when I’ve felt wronged.

Flashing back to myself,
When the windows were down.
I was 2 years old,
And he was still around.

Now I’m nearly grown,
With greater, harder trials.
Losing my first daughter,
But forcing fragile smiles.

All I can say is,
I’m finding peace….
I’ve learned you have to,
Let it be.”
