I listened to my heart and quit

it happened when I focused
on the taste

when I noticed
how my lungs

well they chugged a little slower
with each puff,I knew one day
I'd have enough-

but that one last
revelation
never comes.

My brain becomes unplugged
as its walls are slowly drugged

makes it easy to think
mistakenly

that it's not the smoke
causing my misery

but despite the common thought
that these sticks
made me less stressed

I was anxious and bitter
a continual mess

-so I gave it a shot
life without cigarettes-

and I'll tell you man -I haven't looked back yet-

becuase your senses come back
and with new clarity

you notice how nice life is
without nicotine.

You doubted it before
thought you were loosing a friend,

but at best a crutch
is all you're trying to defend.

So focus on the taste
notice that feeble chug-a-lug

its coming from your heart
and you should treat is with love.
