Pilate's Call

No sympathy for the punished
Checking out, done, finished
Let my people go, or there will be a riot
What a decision, must feel like Pilate

Make my mark before I see the gallows
I’d love you, not too shallow
But I can’t seem to get it right
So afraid, whiter than white

Over the shoulder, the shadow stares
Rat in a cage, but nobody cares
I don’t need what you’re selling
Broke the silence, now I’m telling

You humor is so utterly dark
Rope around my neck, where’s the mark?
Don’t look back, it’s pretty grim
The blood’s filling right to the brim

And where did you run off to?
To mother fucking Timbuktu?
The rat got caught in the trap
Believed their lies, what a sap

Grip tightens, as does the fear
The resolution’s so crystal clear
The shadow laughs as I fall
Pilate made the right call
