Life Sentence
I loved when I open my thighs
where you drop your seed
I took the shame
when you said it wasn’t yours
I took your abuse
when you went around calling
me a whore
I withstood the looks
even heard their laughter
I withstood the scorn
from my own kind
I still felt love even
after you took up with another
I felt it move
when I was seating in school
I felt the pain
even called out your name
I felt the shame
when he wouldn’t have your name
I felt Tried,
Sad,
Lost,
Pity,
Hatred,
Bitterness,
while I held my Life Sentence.
He has your face, your smile
I wanted to hate him
Because he was not you
When he opens his eyes
his eyes are mine
I felt my Life sentence revoke
For in this child I felt the love
you were not man enough to give.
