Just Can't Wait

Written for "Hallmark" competition.

I can't wait to see the little face
that stares curiously back at me
I can't help but play with all my thoughts
of the person you will grow to be

I have felt you move your little hands
and I have touched your little feet
and with my ear pressed to mommy's belly
I have heard the lullaby of your heartbeat

I will see you when you enter this world
and believe me I just can't wait
to share with you the joy in this life
and to protect you from all of the hate

I will be your father and your friend
your blood is my blood too
and when life reveals the harder side
I will be here to help you get through

When the time comes you will read this card
and know that I made it just for you
remember then to tell me you love me,
I just can't wait to love you too!
