In the Shadows

I stand in the Shadows of great men and women, young and old,
of varying hues and nationalities all pioneers of change that has transform the world.
I stand in the Shadows where the doors were forced open, the bridges knock down where ridicule, hatred and violence were withstood all for the hope that one day we might walk Free in the Shadows of their sacrifices.

They ask the baby, “Are you the one?”

I walk within the Shadows doing what’s expected, trying hard not to be seen.
I walk within the Shadows working to maintain my social standings.
I walk within the Shadows buying things beyond my means so I won’t be the outcast.
I walk within the Shadows hoping no one sees my misgivings
I walk within the Shadows harmless, neutered.
I walk within the Shadows afraid.

They ask the child, “Are you the one?”

In the Shadows there is no spot light on you
Your opinions aren’t heard nor are they counted. The wrongs of injustice, intolerance Racism, Sexism and Religious Bias aren’t questioned. The evil in the hearts of men, when they go uncheck, grow darker.

“You are the one!”  They yell to the adult.

All the great men and women of change have ventured out of the Shadows to allow the spot light of revolution to shine on them.
They were brave enough to cast their own Shadows.
The only way to revolutionize this world is to come out of the Shadows to make a difference. To forge a change
