The Ledgend of Enola Mills

In my hometown on any night
if you listen close and the air is right
you'll hear a sound to give you chills
the wailing of Enola Mills

Enola was a witch they say
ask anyone here today
true or not no one knows
but this is how the legend goes

Enola was a comely lass
pious pure attended mass
never drinking more than wine
and only then when she did dine

Loved by all but none so much
as the holy reverend Father Dutch
So he invited young miss Mills
to a picnic in the hills

For her it was a happy day
though she full of naivete
the priest however had different plans
for she a woman and he a man

As the sunlit afternoon drew on
and evening dark crept upon
the couple twined lying down
a spy-er had returned to town

She seduced the priest he said
and the townsfolk cried we,el have her head
poor Enola plied with drink
didn't know what to think

She ran and hid but they chased her down
gagged her and dragged her back to town
she pleaded with the reverend well
holy Dutch said burn in hell

So She was tied alive to a wooden stake
then asked if she had a request to make
i know gods just so heel grant my right
to haunt you all every night

As time went by and people died
its been said that some folks tried
to apologize to Enola Mills
who resides somewhere up there in the hills
