The Lady in Gray

There is a Lady,
All covered in gray,
That walks through the garden
And sleeps on the bay

The flowers all love her,
The birds sing for her to stay,
And night always waits,
To hold the Lady in gray

She takes many forms -
A maiden by day,
But once the sun set,
She becomes a nightingale fey

She sings the tune sweet,
To draw them all near
The strong mighty men
That she once had so feared

And once they all gathered,
Beneath the moonlight,
The sweet nightingale,
Changes to a murderous sprite

She dragges them one by one,
Straight to the bay,
And holds them beneath
Til silent they lay

When she finally stands up
Her red eyes shine
As she transforms back,
To a nightingale covered in wine

The little blood bird,
And the Lady in gray,
Was a simple sweet girl
That loved to laugh and to play,

But men full of lust,
To their charge they'd betray,
As they stole the purity, the life,
Of the Lady in gray

Now she hunts
By the soft starry light,
Her lure her voice,
Her weapon her vulnerable sight

I tell you this tale,
To spread out a warning,
If in the night you hear the nightingale's voice,
Run or you shant' see the morning
