Image for the poem A snowflake passed this way

A snowflake passed this way

Fragile is the mind
That dares not to dream
Lost is the face that has forgot to smile
Blind is the man who cannot cry
For life is lost when we fear to die

Too busy to smell the rain
Too noisy to hear a snowflake land
Too deaf to hear another’s call

Sit in the wings and stop a moment
Ride the phoenix above these turbulent sorrows
And listen, to your voice
For Where there is good
The garden of the soul exists
And the bee of the spirit flourishes

But beyond your conscience lives evil
Waiting to enter by indifference door
To turn your garden into a desert
Where love dies of thirst
And the spirit shrivels beneath
An unjust sun.

Look and see the being that is you
For you too are part of creation
A visitor within a snowflake
Beautiful and Unique
Born to melt away
In the heat of time

The dreamers of this world will see many snowflakes
And marvel at the complexities of their nature
For it is an honour to know a life that others did not
And perhaps this is enough for anyone’s existence
For in the end that is all we have.
