Drawn to Today

Together we walked in the park
We notice that feeling beginning to start
Our hands cupped together
Inlaced in one another.
Standing still, our breath before us
I look into her blue glorious eyes
as she gazes into mine.
The world stops, everything stands still
A smile breaks on her face
She giggles and I chuckle
“Did you feel that?” I say
She looks at me, “I do everyday.”

We continue our stroll
And she huddles to my side
Smling she says, “Why does it have to be so cold,”
And shivers. I smile and pull back my quiver
“Well I read this one article…”
“Oh! Don’t you start,” she laughs
“What?” I gasp.
“You were going to make up a story
Thinking that you would receive some glory!”
Pulling her closer, feeling the warmth
“No! I was just trying to impart some wisdom…”
My voice breaks and the character is lost
“Oh yeah! Sure,” her smiles gets really big.

We enter the coffee store and order the usual
Sitting in the spots we just left
Resuming our talk, still smiling albet.
All the time, as the drinkers pass by
My world revolves around this one girl
And what she has to say
My entire mind drawn to today.
