GENESIS
Genesis
And life was without form
And void
And darkness was upon the face of the days
I caught a bug
I think I took it from your lips
One night
When kissing
Some wine coated
Whip-lick of a smile
I asked you what it was
You showed me
The colours that hide in the dark
And the spirit of life
Re-jigged perception
Re-mapped its pieces
Of firmament
Spin
And the tilt of the earth
Your perfume was on me
And for days
I would not wash my skin
And the bug made so clear
All division between
The light and the dark
And the new light was bright
And phenomenally good
I believe back then
I memorized it all
The shape of your smile
The lines of your walk
The flecks in the blue of your eyes
The tones in your voice when you talked
And the bug became
A diffuse aurora
On the day you smiled
And lent you toward me
Encircling my neck
And as cute as the bud of a blossom
You said
We can call it love
Loves tangle it was
Axons and neurons
Racing hearts beating
Lachesis conducting
Laggierissimo
Lento
Passionato
Amoroso
Accelerando
Canon
Fortissimo
Magnifico
Implacable the pinnacle
That moment of moments
The eruption
Con fuoco
The bonding of soul
And physical skin
Beautiful the insanity
That washed over me
And all through those weeks
With each pass of the days
My feet never stepped
On the ground
On a midweek morning
Not a cloud in the sky
Time punched its ticket
And for every departure
Each journey might end
It was fun whilst it lasted you said
Down went my heart
In a palaver of Muppets
And after that summer
I lived as I could
Knowing
Nothing
Always a road in front that we may not define
Except
However span the compass
Naught would ever settle again
Or point the same way
