Image for the poem I wish…

I wish…

Once you were my companion,
my friend and also my lover,
all that in life truly mattered
then my world stopped and shattered.

Somehow I wish here you were again
still my friend, that you were near;
it seems sometimes if I just dream
by some means you would be here.

If I could just hear your voice again
I perhaps could comprehend;
dreaming of you, time stands still
although I realize, hear you, I never will.

Cold and monumental stone gargoyles
see my passing insignificantly,
they seem  wrong as companions,
you were gentle and warm, my D'Artanian.

Too many days fighting back tears
struggling with unspoken fears.
Just die past I so despise!
All you bring is agony without compromise!

I catch myself wishing you were here again
sharing an embrace dispelling fear’s reign
always knowing that after goodbye
there is nothing but an emptiness that won’t subside.

Try to forgive,
you asked me to live,
gave me the strength to try,
to never give up and dream as big as the sky!

No more memories or silent tears,
gazing across the wasted days and quiet fears,
to accept the inevitable, help me say goodbye,
to end this burgeoning love, once so sublime.
