From the moment I saw your bright blue eyes
I saw an angel and I knew I wanted you to be mine
Not sure about love at first sight, but I was high as could be
The flusters took over, was this happening to lil ole me
You captured something that I protected proudly for many years
You did not know there were nights I would cry out for you through many tears
Do you remember when we talked 14 hours straight and we still had so much to say
Even with the haters around us, nothing or anyone got in our way
That chemistry we shared, our energies were a force to reckon with
We could bring out each other's best qualities and gifts
With the good, I tried as hard as I could to take the bad
I prefer the good times, the bad ones made me hurt deeply and very sad
Both of us are stubborn and so proud and can be mean
Our disagreements caused us to both shut down, nothing in between
I was wronged, betrayed and pushed aside, although you told me your shoulders are very strong
I started unloading my demons on you, I had to stop because I realized it was wrong
I knew you struggled with your set of demons
I told you fight it, your time will come in due season
Best friends tell each other everything right? So I thought too
I once trusted you implicitedly and was deeply in love with you
My heart took turn after turn for worse, but I kept going back due to unconditional love
You still couldn't tell me you were not a gift from above
You may never remember all the wonderful things I have done due to your pride
This last bout, you went by what was in front of you, never mind hearing my side
Despite how it all ended, I wish you well and you still deserve the best
Unfortunately our journey did not survive all of the trials or tests
No matter what you need to do to forget me that is fine; go through your process
You no longer have to worry about me or my duress
When you venture on your new quest, I will be on this side of the world still cheering you on
I am peace now, my heart now like a river...very calm

I have a feeling it should be
"I was high as I/one could be.."
2. "I prefer the good times.."
The tense used in this expression.
3. "for so long and for many years.."
A little modification/alteration as
I feel it is somwhow redundant.
4. "through many tears.."
Many years?
5. "my shoulders are strong.."
The sentece and the tense.
It could be expressed in passive
with 'he'. Or it could be altered
to fit in ,"my shoulders.."
Pardon me if I am wrong.
Just felt that the mortal flaws
should be ironed out from something
so beautiful.

I needed closure.
Now I remember why I kept my heart tucked for so long.
It's too painful to cope with when it doesn't work out.
I am happy to be moving on.

This poem really speaks to me right, it somewhat brought me to the realization of everything. It made me understand why i love him and had to let him go.

With the exception of my kids and animals, I wish I could turn that valve called love off.
