Apology to the Planet (for when the roaches learn to read)

So we drank all the wine
& we ate all the chocolates
even the ones that no-one wanted
everything's gone

The lid yawns open
the crumpled plastic tongue of the box
licks cardboard wistfully--
all gone

Humans don't do sorry
but if they did
perhaps our planet
would've been
a better place to live

Or was
greedy
all we knew how to be?
