A van goes by.
Ten guys appear out of nowhere. I reach for the phone. Nothing.
The chain breaks. They swarm through and I grab my bat.
I scream as the knife enters my side and then is twisted back out.
A numbness starts. Rage and primal fear starts to overpower me.
I fight blindly and savagely. I twist and turn and struggle.
Hands grab me. Arms bind me. All fight is now useless.
My heart starts to tear, but my resolve is not gone.
Burning sensations occur across my arms, neck and stomach.
My fist connects. My mouth utters an unearthly scream and I start to collapse.

Fists connect. I lay there broken, bloody. My eyes close and I know nothing.
I feel nothing any more.
The pain has gone there is nothing left. Nothing more for them to take.
Feet continue to trample all that is left holding me together, holding me here.
I wish for it to be over.
I look down at the pieces of what used to be my body. I can see me giving up.

There is no one to see. No one to know. No one but me and them.
This time there will be no rescue. No hero for me.
They have won this battle, finally.
I have fought with all my might but still lost.
There is strength in numbers, and I have gotten the short stick.
