Possessions

This poem is the basis for every religion on Earth, or at least the ones that haven't sprung up in opposition to the opression that all of these religions eventually decide is part of their religion to control their flock.
The problem has no final solution because the bad always comes with the good. So all we can do is, as you say, "teach each other how to create real worth". If you're not a George Harrison fan, you might enjoy his music. "All Things Must Pass" is an album that I am so glad came out when I was just old enough to appreciate it. Though I never accepted the Hindu religion any more than I did Catholocism, I did take the time to give meditation with a Guru a try several years ago. Like all religions, it has also become corrupted by power and greed, and uses fear as a control tactic. We can never escape the 3 Seeds, but we can learn to recognize them inside of ourselves and do the best we can to let them go when we feel them gaining control.

Very well said. I agree that most religions spring up because of the greed and materialism that always seem to take over. This poem is also very personal to me because for quite a while now I have felt weighed down by my possessions and slowly and over time have gotten rid of more and more of them. Each time I do I feel an odd sense of relief. I am not going completely crazy with it like the guy in the movie "into the wild" but I consider it a personal challenge to see just how many things I can do without. So far it's been an interesting journey and probable will continue to be, especially since I was always somewhat of a hoarder at least when it came to clothes and jewelry. I told you I could get long-winded, too. :)    

Thank you for thinking this poem is beautiful. Perhaps we are all right. Religions may spring up because of this but it may also prove their undoing because humans are part of the human condition and not many successfully are able to transcend that condition, if this makes any sense. Sorry, I can feel myself rambling. :)
