The Dawn

(collaboration of The Utopian Society)

She is the light that breaks the day,
sending colors reeling across the clouds,
Hues of orange, pink, and purple,
seemingly from another time and space,
rise across the sky,
and bring us out of the darkness,
She brings the light into this world
with her visions of a deeper truth
We bow in awe, before the Dawn

when God created darkness
he tainted it with tiny hues
of her, colours assigned no human name
but which we recognise each day,
as they collide in the skies.

A master of morning chill
Beneath the blanket of rising sun
She dries the fallen tears from the earth
With a sheen of silken webs to welcome the day
The silence breaks with her voice
Amid the trees her chorus bleeds
