f.a.s.h.i.o.n
They mean it with lingerie
or almost nude hanging boobs
almost strolling out from within
as if they deny the prison there
that beholds and preserves conspiracy.
Chiffon bits glued to buttered butts
that dwindles either ways without
any declaration of war from each side
and only sensitive enough to react upon
high pencil edged sharp heels point touched.
They mean deep well navels crowned with
meaningless metal caps in place of ear rings
and their shameless faces dressed with colors
so much difficult to understand the brands
they represent each such pastel that robs them.
To further de-glamourise their stupid animosity
sudden malfunctioning of their bra-straps
or accidental slippage of intended tight gowns
making foolish gays popular and millionaires-
these models evidenced their killers via sharp nails.

First of all thanx for your prompt and honest response. However, I have always felt sorry for the fashion models and the so called created world created by this so called fashion. Selling yourself out is alright for money but then getting cheated at end is not fair. This is what I have attempted to look at.

The serious sarcasm in the last stanza is so exotic, almost erotic.
Personally, I like modeling and fashion shows. That however, is not to say the personae does not have a point.

always in fashion

Sorry to get all political on you, but I think it's necessary:
One reason "fashion" is belittled is that it has so much to do with women.
The immense prejudice against women pretty much guarantees that "fashion"
will be considered frivolous as well.
It doesn't matter whether the artwork is a dress, a painting, or a song;
when it becomes a salable commodity, the pressures to please, to flatter,
to lie (which are always there) are greatly magnified.
But it's the labor practices: sweatshops, models, etc., that's where the
problems (as in many other industries) lie; they do not lie in the art.
About this line: "making foolish gays popular and millionaires"
The proportion of gays in the military (especially in the combat forces -
Spartans anyone?) is higher than in the general population; and yes, it's
the same for the fashion industry. While I'd prefer being stereotyped as
peaceful, to state either one as fact would be "foolish". The large majority
of people in either field are straight (and this includes all the top fashion
designers). (i.e. the line needs changing.)

re: Comment
come off your pedestal jack, are you really saying there is no such thing as a foolish gay? of course there are foolish gays, the same as there are foolish straights and foolish women. foolish people come in on genres.modern poetry is just that, modern.
it amuses me that 'you people' go off on one every time someone pre-fixes the word gay with an unkind word. build a bridge and get over it :)
p.s have another look at the context the term was written in.this man has to be one of the most inoffensive people i know,so maybe if you look deeper into the poem you will get the drift of what he is saying.

I have mixed feelings about this poem. I can't tell whether i liked it or simply hate it. I can only tell for sure that it's well written and thought of as the rest of your poems.

I work within the fashion industry and with models (yes, catwalk/photographic and even nude models)..
and they work damn hard.
Some shifts last in excess of 12 hours and are able
to handle the constant scrutiny their appearance is under
as well as being rejected constantly because their nose is
too big, skin too oily, too fat, forehead too wide,
lips too thin etc etc. Can you imagine having to deal with being told of all your faults on a daily basis and still having the determination to continue every day?
Like i said.. They work Damn hard, both emotionally and physically. Also, there are just as many men in the industry.
I am sorry but i really disagree with the picture you paint in this piece. Passionately dissagree.
I tried to look beneath it's surface but cannot get past the contempt (whether intentional or not)
I do love the writings that you give us and i am looking at this as a piece of writing, not as a reflection on you.
