Addiction

Living with life's enemies
help to repress the memories
My mental addiction, hides my fears
perfect ignorance, now forgotten tears

allow the dependence to control
enlightening my empty soul
surrender to the habit that owns me
while my friends and family disown me

hallucinations take me away
helps me through my fantasy day
childhood goals left unachieved
oblivious to promises deceived

disappear to everlasting galaxies
with help from ever changing remedies
in a daze of sleepless nights
from my substance abuse delights

frightful empty narcotic dreams
show what the subconscious sees
my despair and painful feelings
blocked out with my secret dealings

blind to life threatening cautions
befriending poisonous distortions
but never quitting, never leaving
always abusing, numbing the feeling.
