Silence

Waking up to the sound of silence 
scared me 
Not one drip of water 
Not a car passing by
Just me breathing 
My heart pounding in my chest
Determination hit me for a fleeting moment 
But the feeling of abandonment rocked me to my core
I stayed in one place, never looked for answers inside the quiet
Instead I ran to the noise of distraction
Why not.. 
It keeps me alive, without fear 
I keep my pride
