What You Say

I call for you, and you turn your back on me so callously.
You hear me, but make it seem like you don't.
Is it that you are not caring, or the shame you feel for hurting me?

You claim to care about me.
"I never want anything bad to happen to you," you say.
Yet you do many things to cause bad things to happen to me.

"You love me," you say.
How can you claim to love someone when you constantly do things that you know will hurt that person?
When someone loves you, they should cherish your heart, not smash it on the ground.

"I'm selfish and self-centered," you say.
This does not give you the right to hurt those who love and care about you.
It is not okay to abuse the love that others give to you simply because it is given.
