Walls Can't Speak

If these four walls could speak,
You’d hear things you don’t want to know.
They’d tell you the horrendous things I do.
The things I wish I could tell you so.

You’d learn about all the tears.
They come to visit me every night.
Sometimes not for too long,
Sometimes until I see the light.

The walls would whisper to you,
About all the thoughts that swirl my head.
They pick and tear at me endlessly,
As I just take it lying in bed.

You’d discover the song I play,
While the tears stream down my face.
It makes the waters run faster,
But it takes me to a completely different place.

There’s a reason why walls don’t speak,
Although they do listen so well.
It’s a good thing they’re the only ones who know,
Because at least they won’t tell.
