Blowing Out The Candles...

You’ve made fireworks
Shoot from my skin
Arms spread in dazzling colour
I took you in
 
Those huge green eyes
Turned my heart into a horror show
Every time they’d face me
The gore developed a stronger glow
 
But my heart no longer burns
Missing my candle that fueled love for two
My jack-o-lantern flame is gone
Halloween was far too good for you
 
That romantically undead day
That welcomed love and impurity
Every pumpkin sang for us
And spit on their maturity
 
Without this orange, carved shell
My heart is frail and normal
You threw our love away
Put down, like a sick animal
 
But I guess that’s what I get
For trusting someone like you
Our love is dead and gone
The pumpkin patch has lost its roots….
