Sweet Dreams and a Happy Tomorrow
I only recently said goodbye.
You will always be a dream
Wrapped up in gauzy memory.
You walked into my life
In shining armor
Through the mist.
My White Angel,
Sword ablaze
For honor
And all that is right.
The mist cleared,
Hands full of roses
At the wrong time.
While you were my dream,
My reality broke my heart.
I wore it tainted
Round my neck,
And you never knew.
I left you wondering
With empty hands
How our sweet dreams
Could be so cold.
You should know
The promises were never empty,
Just too early made
And too late for follow through.
I will always hold you
A winged beauty round my neck.
A dream to keep me warm.
Two little love bugs
Sealed in wax
To hold their breath in a moment
For all time.
I will always remember,
And the memory
Will always give me
A Happy Tomorrow.

i sense something deep and personal here.
its like you go to a lot of trouble to share blame for whatever breakdown occurred,which is refreshing.

It is very personal. Nice catch. :) It was written for my first love. I may take all of the blame, from our last meeting especially at any rate. Happy Tomorrow is a recurring theme in anything he and I wrote for each other. It was a long distance relationship and it's what we would say on the phone every time we said goodbye: Happy Tomorrow.

I like your poem. Sometimes it is hard to express let alone understand why connections don't click. Should have been but wasn't. You have expressed that very well. I like the fact that you are able to somewhat understand that maybe internal baggage got in the way or maybe the time was not right. Keep writing - you are good.

This is one of your pieces that shows clearly the girl within the beauty of body we see. I love the "Happy Tomorrow" uttering.
The many among us often leave a bond and recall or recite the bruises and pains. You capture with clarity the inability of youth to fathom the intricacies of such a spark.

a lot has been said above in words better than I have... and this newbie is playing catchup...as I am a little ocd I was impressed by the way each line was complete in itself...that really takes some doing iinstead of just chopping up a sentance.
