I knew this kid, He was naive from the start
He kept it true as if optimism was an art
He didn't know the sorrow of this world could tear him apart
But it seems nothing could put out the fire in his heart

He kept on pushing and never quit
He set his mind on it and that was it
His logic was Romantic but never selfish
A love bound fool but never helpless

He's seen all the hurt but he has never been frantic
He's heard all the lies and just doesn't understand it
He's surrounded by everything oh so synthetic
Every move he makes is real and doesn't regret it

He sees how far his people have really fallen from grace
He hopes one day they'll see the error of their ways
