patience runs thin, but
I'm not one to play around or
analyze the differences in our depth
not one to waste time when we
both have something to say

being distant...it’s not for me
but for me there’s a whole lot in not wanting to forget

we both need to know

there may not be enough time or it’ll be
time out of time wherein
we won't speak long enough
or loud enough
or straight enough

a time without the words seemingly stifled in brevity
without them coherently defining or
adding to

what’s us...what’s distant

see, I want these words understood as if
you thought of them and had
spoke them yourself
I only want them to say to you
what I would have them understood by

no one else

these words...if distant, I’m sorry, but
what they convey should make all the sense in our world
so I want these words you hear
inside your mind; I want them
to unfurl

I want them unwrapped to question
that, which doesn't make sense
I want you to conclude
in what's said...nothing said is
past tense

no distance

the words “here & now” are us
but, like time they’ll disappear
so what we have is
what we give
so, best to
keep it
near
