Hope

Lately I've been so low
Like I've been in an eternal limbo
So morose
Talking to my own Shadow
But I guess I never had much Hope
About what the future may hold
I thought I lost it all; my humanity,
My soul,
To the devil I thought I sold
But now I know
That there's a God who saw it all, saw me lying on the floor
In an abyss, battered to the core
I thought I was too far gone to be saved anymore
Sucked into a black hole,
thinking if I could just take an extra dose
I'll drift away to a better place and all the pain would go
But like a miracle, I heard a voice implore
Soft, like a murmur, strong like wind on the seashore
It said, "wake up, you'll win this war. Don't let go."
And just like that, thunder struck my soul
I could feel my life restore,
A blinding light filled my every pore
And at that moment,
I felt like, once again, I was whole
Like I was morphing into a thunderstorm
Sweeping away all my pain, defeating my foes
I was vibrating with more power than I could ever control
Fighting my demons, one by one
Away they were blown, by the force
Of this tornado, this strength in my bones
I could feel my wings grow
And lift me up from this black pit until I soared
Higher than a meteor,
Shining brighter than the sun and that was when I realized that all along I had always known
That there was Hope,
A light trapped in a dome
It was me, holed up in a cocoon of my fears, so alone
All I had to do was evoke
The fire of my essence, the courage to set myself aglow
With the knowledge of Hope,
There is nothing I cannot overthrow
