she is the season

Writer's note: The following haiku and senryu  were recently submitted to Frogpond and Heron's Nest for publication.   Although none were chosen by the respective editors - I wanted to post them here to thank those DUP writers who helped me in the editing process of these.

While traditional haiku format follows the 5-7-5 syllable count, I land more on the side that the art form is best expressed in the simplest of text regardless of count or line breakage.

I remain committed to developing my skills as a writer with the form, and have seen some success as two of my poems have been published with Haibun Today.

hiding in her voice
Jack's in my glass
raindrops sing backup

autumn marsh can't camouflage our rowboat nor intentions

watching you two dance
ebony brushes bronze
rustling wet leaves

-------------------------------------

cresting oars
chase dragonflies
drips laughter

-------------------------------------

last call
on the house
tis why we call it home

Jack's slipping on the rocks
fingers tap out S.O.S
bass strums his reply

no more laughter in the pool while autumn leaves swim

twenty four pairs of eyes
challenged by one
relying on No. 2
