My TRIBUTE To~Robin Williams
ROBIN WILLIAMS
Captain My Captain
When I think of him
I see him as a beautiful wooden boat
honed to perfection
able to stand up to anything
he was a natural at
floating and gathering moments
by the thousands, each new ripple he created
was felt around the world.
He could stop your heart
with the speed of his comedic genius.
Everything just rolled so beautifully
so smoothly over his tongue
like magic
he could switch gears
changing from one character
to the next
without skipping a beat. He was
adrift with brilliance.
Our laughter
and appreciation for his
comedic genius took him to the
highest swells of joy.
He loved making us happy.
And we floated along with him
for the whole ride.
Only occasionally did we see
him get rocked by life…
maybe even flirting
with disaster
but he shared even that
to remind us
things are not always
what they seem
that he had demons
in that water
that climbed aboard
every now and then
and he fought them with a vengeance
that we will never truly know
or comprehend
and eventually
they overtook his beautiful
vessel, and threw him into a
storm that took him from us
far too soon.
if you look out
every now and then
the great ocean
sparkling like diamonds
in sun and moon
he is still shining,
and creating laughter
with all the great works he left behind
his smile and laughter bounces along
those beautiful brilliant waves echoing
back to us.
Keeping all the good,
remembering how much
he accomplished in such a short time.
He was a presence, a force
to be reckoned with.
There will never be another like him.
How fortunate were we all to have
had him with us as long as we did.
Even though his ship has sailed,
to rest peacefully in another harbor
I plan on going back again and again
to keep his spirit
alive in my heart
for years to come.
