Unstoppable Joan
The stage has been swept—
Ticker-tape and dust from a show, long-run.
She turns off the light switch
And closes the stage door behind her;
“Can we talk?”
No, she’s said all there is to say,
And a wistful smile remains on her lips
As she steps into the new.
“She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Strength and honour are her clothing and she shall rejoice in time to come.”
Proverbs 31: 22 & 25
And in an instant,
She becomes the silk and purple
Bathed in the starlight that shone on her
And spotlighted her unstoppable muse
For a time.
“The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.”
Psalm 45:13
She winks a sly wink
As her fingertips touch, one final time,
The door between worlds,
Leaving the rest knowing that her timecard is punched
And she is off to police the fashion of angels
And bring laughter before God, Himself.
