This Really Sucks

can't think of anything harder  
than seeing her daughter  
sitting in the yard she grew up in  
wiping away tears  
because  
soon even this  
will not be allowed  
   
counting too many losses  
the unfairness of it all  
she is old enough to understand it  
but losing everything she has ever known  
there are just no words for it  
no way to reassure  
it is simply    
gone  
   
all i can do is let her  
say whatever she needs too  
just let it all out  
the anger, frustration
   
so many bad things  
flew from her lips  
but she needed it  
i had to let her do it  
say it  
free herself of it all  
no matter how much  
it tore me apart  
 
take it all with a grain  
of salt  
that burns and stings  
like nobodies business
