cub
A wild female took up residence in my daddy's garage
Up in between the rafters,
On a fiberglass mat
She had picked a weak spot
She and her little baby came falling to the floor below.
The insulation cushioned their fall.
She would come as close as she could stand to me
begging for food
I'd give it to her
She never let me get close enough to her for my satisfaction
I did not have the patience to let the relationship grow naturally.
I wanted intimacy in short order, before she really got to know me, or, more likely, she did get to know me to the fullest extent that she desired, and other than taking my offerings, avoided me at all costs.
I left open my car door
a hot fresh pizza inside.
caught her taking a slice
I slammed the door shut and locked her in with my remote.
I towed that car far out into the countryside.
let her go. never saw her again.
Back at the farm
I reached out to her little cub
He chomped down hard into my finger
I didn't fight or pull back,
I just bore the pain,
until he began to realize that
I was not out to hurt him.
We became fast friends
