A Poem May Not Work

Sometimes you try to reach someone not nearby
to express something that is real
even just to say "hello friend"
genuine expression of how you feel

Yet no recognition is sent in return
as if you addressed a rock
the only sound heard
is the tick of the clock

So you decide he/she is not one for poetry
not a response do you earn
silence is golden
that much can be discerned

Not that you thought you could encapsulate
all of  was intended in the lines
but hoping to generate something
must have been blind

Even a simple hello could make a day
much more then a busy day can permit
and another message given from
the place where you sit

So wishing luck as one goes their way
may it be found in all sought
and not to be pestered
with attempts at poetry in thoughts
