79 AD
Stop the go
with a bang and a boom
all life ceases
with a shower of fire
fallen ash so thick
no more breathing,
and the light
swallowed by the darkness
scattered bones
burnt into time
frozen into step
faces of terror
every day joy
fire and rock
stone and ash
burned and buried
with a bang and a boom.

And history is made. Interesting read Hashman. :) Sounds more like After the New Millennium though.

now that was a time and
a place to avoid, although
now we go there in droves
just to see it...

Having in mind what Pliny the Younger wrote about the event, this is a refreshing, short version... Well done! :-)

Thanks, Hash, for reminding us of the catastrophe of 79 AD. So many deads, so much sorrow. I'm thinking of Iceland right now ...

For some reason this made me think of the Star Trek movie, "The Search For Spock", especially those parts where the crew is dealing a younger Spock while his memories are inside McCoy.
Very intriguing write!
