The Briar Patch

Once upon a wandering in the Old Country
Was a flowering bush not meant for everyone to see
I stumbled across this flower, a rose for certain
Hidden in the briars under morning's misty curtain

Pleasant was the scent as I knelt down upon one knee
Reaching for the bush I did for what was pleasing me
No ordinary flower this was by the softness of its petals
Causing me to linger further, brushing away the nettles

A woman's voice spoke softly, offering me a sip of wine
From that beautiful flowering bush, divinest of the vine
Shutting my eyes, I dived in without hesitation or a care
Tasting the sweetest nectar, the fairest of the fair

I do recall I tongued the dew, lapping it up with a passion
My thirst became unquenchable as I continued in this fashion
Later, the woman came and sat next to me in the briar patch
Delicately whispering deliciously in my ear,

Did you enjoy the taste of my snatch?
