Is there no end to this loneliness?

If only it were so simple, to cruise through life smelling roses;
But then the rain begins to fall
As you left me standing alone in the rain
With pain—stirring up my memories
And thoughts of you flowing through my mind insistently.

I believed in all that you said to me
And at one point, I loved you more than anything
But it’s obvious you had changed,
And left me without even a backwards glance.

How did you get so far from my heart
Without my becoming aware?
Saying goodbye is never easy
But reality is a slap in the face
That is always there to open my eyes
Because mistakes were made, and regrets are my luggage.

Now my heart feels empty
As I ache for the life that should have been
Hanging onto a hope that was based on dreams.
Too bad I can not live in my dreams.

I walk to the window and peer into the endless night
Trying to act like I don't care
But the smile I wear is just a disguise
As I’m longing for your touch,
So I reach to touch you, but only touch air.
And I think, “I'm afraid this night will outlast the bottle of wine
Then what will I do, as I wait for morning?”

Is there no end to this loneliness?

Love can be bitter, yet it is the bread that keeps me,
And this emptiness I feel was put there by my own stupidity.

I wonder why I can love so deeply
Yet never have that love returned back to me?

How do I love again with all of this pain
As there is a great deal of depression overtaking my soul?

Although I will always love and miss you
I must be prepared to walk alone in the darkness.
