SOLARIUM DAYS.
Monday to Sunday 24.7 we were love and sparks
Good times got us through the rough
Wealth and sadness we shared
wherever we were made no difference
so long as we had each other,we owned the damn universe.
Reckless caress in the streets
French kisses they too adored with cheer
Beaching nude in the afternoon
Haha!Stary nights making love on the yard...
Oh hail the felicity and bliss that once was.
Maybe we grew old or too familiar,perhaps?
Or is it the extra pounds and the marks of honour our babes begot me?
Remember the jokes?The tales?The vows?The promises?
"Even when you are old,frail and toothless il still deeply love you,il have lesser teeth,you know?"
Haha!You would tell me that so often as you comb my hair.
She is a beautiful thing,il give you that,reminds me of a memory
Did i drive you to her?Did i become unfulfilling?Inflexible or too moody for a good wife?
Sometime in your stare i feel disgust and loathe
5 kids,22yrs of marriage and family planning pills can do that,you know?
But you are just a man,what do you know of being a mother,a wife,a woman and trying to stay sane?
For so long i cried,for you,for me,for us,for our home and children
I prayed and sacrificed hoping the gods will reverse this punishment
But i realize heavens are doing this as an honour
You possess the mark of hungry eye and the spirit of a wanderer
no 'younger version of me' will ever fill your soul.
Here,i signed the papers
Am grateful for the solarium days we once shared
As am grateful for those i would have missed had you stayed
Night and day, air,space,freedom all mine again
Depart,go thee well my once was mate.

Oh My Lady...what a sad write...this really tugs at my heart strings...you serve up your very best and sacrifice for more than 20 years and this is the level of appreciation you get...I salute you for this line "But you are just a man,what do you know of being a mother,a wife,a woman and trying to stay sane?"...sadly few men can see beyond their self-centred self and most have little or no understanding of who a woman truly is and how she is wired...kudos to you for the awesome role model you are for your young family...bless you Peninnah...I love this peom, but not the circumstances the necessitated its writing...please be safe and well...thanks and take care...Jimbo

Yes,a lot of women go unappreciated in marriages,most of us are reduced to doormats and handmaids!Perhaps that's what God had in mind when He made a woman or perhaps your gender got it wrong,or perhaps we make it too easy for our men to disrespect us!
