Some Years Before

Clad in simple red
Fingers dance upon a board
Enter a glistening dream of alkaline

Hair slick back
Joyful ruse in her voice
She beckons me to come along

I'll never follow you
Because my feet just won't move
I'd rather be in a landslide
Than standing here

It's been so long
Since I've felt lightheaded
Waist deep in something unseen

Little reflection
For a moment I'm frozen
Scared to death on this odyssey

I'll never follow you
Because my feet just won't move
I'd rather be in a landslide
Than standing here

You tell me I'm wrong
But what is there to find out here
Other than what's beneath
Poseidon's avenue

I want nothing else
You can't change my mind
My belief is based on old memories

No, I won't walk on water

I'll never follow you
Because my feet just won't move
I'd rather be in a landslide
Than standing here

You tell me I'm wrong
But what is there to find out here
Other than what's beneath
Poseidon's avenue
