Behind The Smile
(For Robin Williams, to the tune of “Hold On” by Kansas)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xikm2YS_7xM
Look through the veil hiding your world, what do you see?
Did the road always bring you to where you thought you should be?
The rivers are winding and flow with despair,
And behind your smile, what was it, led you to there?
Flown on,
The Robin’s flown on
With the other birds of Spring,
To the Summer where they sing,
They’ve flown on.
The laughter that rode on the wind, was what your gift gave,
But did it always entrap you and plunge you, deep in the waves?
How did it unhinge, the door to your church,
Slip into the sand, and fill up with the hurt?
Flown on,
The Robin’s flown on
With the other birds of Spring,
To the Summer where they sing,
They’ve flown on.

WOW Lavender...this is truly a sensational tribute to such an amazing individual...who knows what is happening behind the facade...it is a stark reminder that when we stop and ask a person "How are you?" and that respond with a glib "I'm okay..." we need to stop and ask "How are you...really?" and upon asking take the time to find out...I have no idea how many people I have befriended on line with the simple comment...if you need someone to talk to about your problems I am here...You asked those kinds of questions and I am convinced that you would have taken the time to listen for the answers...this truly is an amazing write and read...but I don't like it...I LOVE IT...Please be safe and well...thanks and take care...Jimbo

Thanks for the read, everyone! So much loss and change this summer, but it's all something to press on through. In addition to Robin Williams, yesterday we had yet another death in the family--one of 2 remaining aunts on my husband's side, who was the same age as my Grandmother. So another funeral for us this week, just two weeks after Gram's. Then I send my daughter off to college in 2 more weeks. Nothing like a major life overhaul, all at once! I'm so mentally, emotionally and physically exhausted....

I shall come back to you
birth and death
are two sides of the same coin
can anyone separate them????
but when
none know
not even a GOD
if there be one
Still I share your grief
in brief
move on as the Buddha hath said
to reduce suffering let go the pain
in moments you will
tis all in ur WILL!
Apart from erotica
simple poetry
I can compose still

When I read you
i shudder
the guys who I have blocked
or have blocked me
stand HERE above
with inflated egos
like brazened swords
still the birds will fly sky high
as the summers come and go
jealous ones will CONTINUE to mow
earlier it was said
JEALOUSY THY NAME IS WOMAN
now in smaller letters we say
jealous man art thou
i shudder
the guys who I have blocked
or have blocked me
stand HERE above
with inflated egos
like brazened swords
still the birds will fly sky high
as the summers come and go
jealous ones will CONTINUE to mow

Thanks everyone! Favorite Robin movie would probably be Mrs. Doubtfire--makes me think of how hard my daughter laughed, the first time she saw it.
