Nobody's Perfect
Can't come to grips with the fact that I'm average
I should do the whole world a favor
And take one step off this ledge
I could end it all now
No one would miss me anyhow
But the voice inside me says,
Nobody's Perfect
Pissing on the third rail
In the subway station
Would be a one way ticket to salvation
But the voice inside says to me
What they all fail to see
Nobody is Perfect
That's me
You're all jealous
Secretly pining to be in my shoes
Just because I got talent
Ignore me if you so choose
You can't deny
The depth of my brilliance
As hard as you try
I won't let you
No, I won't let you
You can hold your breath
Until your face turns blue
I won't let you
No, I won't let you
Look at me, look at me
Thrashing about madly
The center of your universe
Defying all gravity
Like a black hole
Sucking you in
And never letting go
Until you finally admit
What everyone should already know
I'm maybe Nobody
But Nobody's Perfect
No one else is Perfect
That's me
Dismiss me all you want
It's just more incentive to flaunt
That no one else is Perfect
Like me
Excuse me while I blatantly
Shamelessly promote
My own poetic genius
Lyrical note for note
Never mind what it was
That I actually wrote
It's not very important
Next to a popularity vote
Keep your eyes on the prize
On me and you will realize
What the whole world
Has been missing out on
What it tried to disguise
Camouflaged
Amongst the average
Lost in the ordinary
Where no one is special
That's where you'll find me
I'm maybe Nobody
But Nobody's Perfect
No one else is Perfect
That's me

I'm really not one of those poets who writes much about themselves, their experiences and emotions ..... so I can understand the reaction from other poets who might think this is about me.
This piece was inspired about a poster named "nobodysperfect" in another poetry forum along time ago in a land far far away. nobodysperfect was harassing other posters under an alt account because he wasn't getting enough attention.
His criticisms of poetry entailed calling it "shitty" and rewriting poems with all the skill of a 4th grader to include the word "shitty".
When one of his four poems he never volunteered ( we had to scrape them out of The Wayback Machine ) was put under a microscope, revealing the depths of its literary awfulness ..... he vanished.
Or, I should say, She. Based on his behavior, his writing and the content of said epic failure of a poem - we concluded he was a spoiled teenage brat of a girl living solely on the dime of her blue collar working middle class parents in France.
I did my best to work some of that in to this poem - the desire to escape what she considered mediocrity and stand out from the multitude.
