~I Thought It Was Normal~

Is it odd to be the way that I am?
How am I even alive?
My past, is it not common?
To be normal, I always strive

You’ve never felt the pain
Of a parent’s death?
Having them say they hate you
With their last breath

Your friends have always stayed
Never left you to die
They’ve never left you alone
With a simple goodbye?

You’ve never lost everything
Love, Laughter, and Home?
I thought it was normal
Being alone to roam.

Because I have no mother
And I have little of a father
You say my life is hard
And why do I bother?

I know what pain is
I’ve felt my heart shatter
But you say
You’ve never seen blood splatter

I can’t seem to hold back
The memories that still remain
Quietly sobbing
Somewhere in my brain
