"Captured"

              
             
Did you see the Old Growth Pines
Chiseled monuments reaching for the sky
Joshua Trees in the distance, reply
Arms outstretched as if waving goodbye
                   
Mighty Mesquites withstand the course of nature
Battered, scarred, but proud and true, in apt favor
Of sheer cliffs in magnificent solidity, they never waver
Likened to that special someone, whom you trust and savor
                     
Various birds in tremendous color
They flit and fly, no pursuit of the almighty dollar
Owls in the night, the ever-present callers
Broadcasting wisdom, sharing their all, unpaid scholars
                 
Observing this and more, upon a mount in the trees
Interest captured by beauty, and thoughts of thee
While I hiked, explored, did you happen to see
All this splendor, so full and free

I know you did, your spirit was with me
